Start with the result you want to measure
Influencer marketing ROI is difficult to assess when a campaign has no clear objective. Decide whether the priority is awareness, consideration, traffic or revenue before selecting metrics.
Awareness metrics
Track reach, impressions, video views and frequency where available. These indicate how much exposure the campaign generated, but do not independently prove sales impact.
Engagement metrics
Likes, comments, saves and shares can help assess audience response. Review the quality and relevance of comments rather than relying only on totals.
Traffic metrics
Use trackable links, UTM parameters and landing pages to understand how creator content drives visits.
Conversion metrics
Discount codes, affiliate links and conversion tracking can help attribute purchases. Attribution is imperfect, so interpret the results alongside other marketing activity.
Calculate the economics
Compare attributable revenue or contribution margin with the campaign's total cost, depending on the business question. Include creator fees, agency services, production and paid distribution when appropriate.
ROAS measures revenue attributed to advertising spend; it is not the same as profit or full campaign ROI.
Compare creators fairly
Consider differences in audience size, content format, paid amplification and campaign timing. Avoid judging every creator on a single metric when their roles differ.
Use results to improve the next campaign
Identify which audiences, creative approaches and calls to action performed best. Use the findings to refine the next brief and creator selection.
Measurement is most useful when it leads to a decision—not simply a dashboard full of numbers.
